Kayan Lahta is one of a tribe of Kayan. Kayan Lahta are living in south Shan State, west of the region of Kayan Lahwi. Kayan Lahta is the smallest tribe among four Kayan tribes but they are most united Kayan tribe. Lahta traditional dance with drum and flute is famous in Kayan region.
There are some sub-tribes of Lahta. They are Nanki, Tutan, Hanti, Hanyou etc.. Different Lahta village has different dialect. Lawhi, Kangan and Kadau did not understand the dialect of Lahta but majority of Lahta understand common Kayan language(Phekon) which is recognized by Kayan. Lahta do not like to settle in other place like kayan Lawhi. They are enjoying their lives at their villages in the middle of jungle. Most of Kayan Lahta are Catholic but some of them are animists.
